Understanding clients’ needs has also played a key role in the successful organization and promotion of special events, such as the Canadian portion of the Smirnoff International Fashion Awards (SIFA). In 1991, Smirnoff Canada enlisted Clara Northcott Communications to publicize and launch the Smirnoff Fashion Awards in Canada. Owner, Clara Northcott’s unrelenting drive and perseverance sent her traveling throughout Canada, organizing and promoting this innovative competition to fashion schools and national media. Within the year, her efforts were realized with the top 15 schools committing and ready to compete in the Canadian Final along with the support and enthusiasm of the media and fashion industries.

Northcott Communications Inc.’s ability to work effectively with the media has highly contributed to SIFA’s establishment in Canada and its subsequent national media exposure valued at over $2,000,000 annually. Northcott Communications Inc.’s ability to popularize the Awards in Canada played a pivotal role in bringing the 1996 and 2001 International Finals of the Awards to Toronto as well as in the City of Toronto’s recognition of Smirnoff Canada with an Industry Achievement Award in 2001. Also in 2001, Northcott Communications Inc. was selected to execute the international public relations for the Smirnoff International Fashion Awards and accomplished this feat with great enthusiasm and ability.

Northcott Communications Inc. has developed an on-going interest in promoting the work of many of Canada’s talented young designers. In 1999, Clara Northcott held a large fundraiser, to celebrate her first decade in business, entitled Decadesign, which promoted Canadian fashion and benefited the Toronto Fashion Incubator.

Northcott Communications Inc.’s location at 72 Stafford Street in Toronto reflects the kind of international sensibility, cultural refinement and sophisticated personality that are the calling cards of this dynamic and expanding business. The gallery-like setting houses a strong collection of works by Canadian painter/sculptor Nikola Nikola, again pointing to Northcott Communications Inc.’s appreciation and commitment to what is unique and truly cutting edge.

“Clara Northcott’s constant innovation, complete dedication, and personal charm have made her a stand-out in her field. I always look forward to working with Clara, confident that any project she’s associated with is ultimately creative, and professionally perfect.”
